The gateway to the slate, this is probably the most convenient of the quarries, especially as you can see it from Pete's Eats café! The rock surrounds a large pool which adds atmosphere to the plethora of excellent routes here - including the famous 'Comes The Dervish' and the infamous 'Dawes of Perception'.
Over the past few years several large rockfalls have damaged some climbing lines and has made accessing some of the poncs (levels) much harder.
July 2025 - Scubascape, is the re-branded organisation currently with the lease for Vivian Quarry, currently there is no access for any activities within Vivian Quarry on all levels and this includes any group use.
The BMC will be continuing discussions with the owners to see if any access can be restored, for the time being please respect the owners wishes and stay clear of the site for the time being.
It is likely that further rockfall will occur in Vivian Quarry (as with many of the slate quarries), and climbers entering the quarry against the advise do so at their own risk.
