Wye Valley & Forest of Dean
The two south facing crags visible from the A466 provide excellent long single pitch trad climbing usually following strong natural lines, with grades from Sev-E4. Single pitch routes to 40 metres with descent usually by abseil from trees.
Whitebeams (a rare species of tree) grow on the crag and are an important feature of the SSSI. Please do not cut any trees on or around the crag without gaining permision first as this could result in access issues in future. If you want to carry out cleaning which involves trees, please contact the BMC access team first through access@thebmc.co.uk.
Restrictions apply from 1 April - 15 June.
Reason: Nesting Birds
Ravens are nesting on the LH crag. Do not climb left of Papillion (Strike - The Crack)
Parking and Approach
From Chepstow, take the A466 past the race course and then the village of St Arwans. Park at the Forestry Comission Car Park on the R. Do NOT take the side road on the L sign-posted `Wyndcliffe' - this does not lead to the crag. From the old quarry opposite the car park the crag can be reached by foot in 10 minutes.
