BMC Festive Hamper - 24 hours to go!

Posted by Inigo Atkin on 28/11/2018

This festive season, the BMC is offering you the chance to win something from our 'Hamper' - a massive raffle competition that is our largest gear giveaway ever. With over 150 individual items, 50 guaranteed winners and more than £2,500 worth of prizes, it's not one to be missed.

Forget about the £5 bottle of wine or the bath salts nobody asked for - this is a Festive Hamper with a bang. The BMC are giving you the chance to walk away with some serious Christmas gifts (they can be gifts to yourself). With massive prizes up for grabs from the likes of Montane, Rab, Vango, Berghaus, Columbia, Clif Bar and more, you've got a bumper chance to win big for an entry price of just £2. You can enter as many times as you like, and you've got just one week to do so.

All the money we raise will be donated to the BMC Mend Our Mountains campaign. To find out more about all the prizes on offer, have a look below.

1st Prize!

FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to spend at Montane.co.uk, plus BMC goodies

Our top prize is a whopping £500 voucher to spend as you like on gear from Montane's website. That's right - you can pick and choose whatever you want. Jacket, pants, mid-layers, base-layers, gloves - you can stock up on some of the UK's best outdoor stash. And it's not just clothing - there's sleeping bags, packs and more besides. This really is the ultimate prize in outdoor wear, and will absolutely guarantee an amazing Christmas!

It's all thanks to the BMC's recommended clothing and pack partner, Montane.

2nd Prize!

RAB ASCENT 700 sleeping bag + roll mat OR a VANGO NEMESIS PRO 300 tent + camping gear

The two 2nd prizes are amazing items in their own right. Donated by Trekkit and Vango, these items are a brilliant starting point for outdoor adventures in 2019 - scoop them up as a present for yourself or a friend. The Rab sleeping bag is comfortable down to a chilly -2 degrees, though it can be used in even more extreme temperatures if necessary. The Vango tent is ideal for use as a two person, with an extra compartment for tons of gear, or as a cosy three person. The camping gear it comes with includes a Vango headtorch and vacuum flask.

To sweeten the deal, the BMC will also throw in a few other goodies with both of these prizes - have a look at the third prize below for an idea of what to expect.

3rd Prize!

Thought that was it? Think again! It wouldn't be a hamper unless we were really giving away loads of stuff - and our goodie bags are packed with great presents for everyone. There will be 15 of these available and we've pulled together quite the selection of items, take a look:

  • Columbia 20L bag - awesome small pack for quick hits in the mountains, walking or running, and even commuting
  • Pack of 12 Clif bars - enough fuel to get you through plenty of wintry days out, or lots of training sessions!
  • A BMC or MOM mug - a solid mug with either BMC or Mend Our Mountains design, makes a great gift
  • Columbia beanie hat - warm, rugged, durable and comfortable, a staple for cold Christmas day walks
  • A BMC or MOM T-shirt - we have a few T-shirts available in a variety of designs. Women's Medium or Men's Large
  • Cotswold Outdoor/Snow+Rock discount code - a code for 15% off at either of our major sponsors
  • Team GB kit - we have a small number of items from last year's team kit, made by Berghaus. Women's Medium or Men's Large
  • Stickers - cool BMC stickers with inspiring quotes and fun slogans

Due to different numbers of each item, not every goodie bag will be the same - but everyone will get a Columbia bag (RRP £60) and at least three other items.

Early bird winners!

If that wasn't enough, to cap it off we will guarantee a prize (or maybe two) from the above list to the first 30 people to enter, so make sure you get in early!

Tickets

It's only £2 to buy one ticket (although you can buy more if you want to), and you have until Wednesday 5th December to enter. Winners will be announced shortly after entries close, and prizes sent shortly after that, to arrive before Christmas.

Snowdonia: Essential path upgrades or motorways through the hills?

In the last three years Snowdonia National Park Authority have been very active in working on a number of lower level bridleways around Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and more recently started work on the bridleway connecting Capel Curig to Crafnant. While some of these trails have given opportunities to link communities and provide access to lesser abled users, the scale and nature of the works on some of the routes that pass through some wild and remote areas has also surprised many users.
